One of my favorite writers is the late John O'Donohue, who possessed a strong connection to pre-Christian, Celtic spirituality which informed his beautiful writings. The passage below is from a chapter in his lovely book, Anam Cara. I am including it here because it perfectly articulates the more empowering and soulful purpose of astrology, in its most important function: to help us find our way back to a more authentic life, to rediscover who we truly are at a much deeper level. Anam Cara is Gaelic for "soul friend," and I think that also describes the ideal relationship between astrologer and client.
The shape of each soul is different. There is a secret destiny for each person. When you endeavor to repeat what others have done or force yourself into a preset mold, you betray your individuality. We need to return to the solitude within, to find again the dream that lies at the hearth of the soul. We need to feel the dream with the wonder of a child approaching a threshold of discovery. When we rediscover our childlike nature, we enter into a world of gentle possibility. Consequently, we will find ourselves more frequently at that place, that place of ease, delight, and celebration. Blue Moon Astrology readings are individualized, custom interpretations, prepared by me personally. They are not computer-generated reports. The reading length cited in the above descriptions includes two to three hours or more preparation time to provide an in-depth reading of the highest quality. I will record your reading in .mp3 format for download, but can post the reading to you on CD if you prefer. In many cases, I prefer written readings over recordings and will take the extra time to provide these for no extra charge. If you have a preference, please indicate when you order your reading. Natal Chart Readings ($150) The natal chart is a map of the solar system at the time of birth that symbolizes our innate tendencies and potentials. A "blueprint" is a fitting analogy for the natal chart because it does not delineate set fates or fixed personality traits; rather, it symbolizes prospects: gifts and challenges with which we were born, but over which we have freewill to use wisely, squander, or transcend. The increased awareness gleaned from a Natal Chart Reading often gives us more power of choice and confidence to move past areas of life where we have previously been stuck, as well as better utilize our unique talents and strengths that perhaps we have not adequately embraced. Included in a Blue Moon Natal Chart Reading is a look at the year ahead via astrological "weather-forecasting" techniques we use to "move" the chart forward — key transits, secondary progressions and solar arc directions. It is wise to focus your reading on specific concerns or issues, or if this is your first astrology reading, focus on the chart fundamentals: natal Sun, Moon, Ascendant and Midheaven. Readings for Children ($150) Casting a horoscope for a child requires a different approach and focus, and a softer touch. This reading is geared specifically for parents to provide helpful insights and strategies regarding your child's unique talents, tendencies and challenges. My eleven years as an elementary and preschool teacher, as well as my own experience as a mother, contributes to practical, realistic and empowering readings that aid understanding of your child's unique promise and challenges. Relationship Readings ($220) In many ways we learn the most about ourselves through our intimate relationships. This reading is designed to help you understand the interpersonal dynamics involved in one special relationship. Four different charts are drawn up and analyzed for the purpose of this reading. Relationship Readings provide deep insights into how two people come together to form a third, unique entity — the relationship itself. Blue Moon Relationship Readings are empowering and positive without glossing over areas of challenge and friction. The focus of this reading is on maximizing the beneficial and flowing aspects of the relationship, while providing helpful insights and suggestions regarding the challenges, which even blissful unions have! The 19th Century Edo print at top, "Bow Shaped Moon," by Japanese artist, Hiroshige Ando, shows a crescent moon visible between the walls of a steep canyon.
The icon at the top of this page is the glyph for the asteroid Vesta, which symbolizes the home hearth, hospitality and service to others. In my natal chart, Vesta holds court in my sixth house of work and falls in the psychological sign of Scorpio, exactly conjunct spiritual Neptune and sextiles Scorpio's modern ruler, Pluto.
